Today is the first day of Spring. While many other states have spent the winter buried under snow drifts, Florida has had a mild winter. It hasn’t been too bad here but we did have a couple of nights that dipped below freezing. Unfortunately, that means that many of our buds on our Japanese Plum tree froze. I think some have survived but many are dried up and dead.
How can something so beautiful, and fragrant, make me suffer so much? The pollen count has been off the charts lately and even people that normally do not suffer from seasonal allergies have been sneezing and wheezing. I’m just happy to finally see honeybees again!! Before we moved, there used to be a wild hive near us and then suddenly, they all disappeared. The picture below is of a honeybee on our lemon tree.
It’s going to be beautiful though, and just in time for spring break.
Our grapefruit tree is covered in blossoms and smells amazing!! What a pleasant smell to greet you as soon as you step out onto the porch.
Happy Spring everyone!! So what does spring look like in your yard?
