You know it really doesn’t matter how old your kids get – they still want to participate in Easter egg hunts! At least mine do. We usually have a mix of eggs that we dye and plastic eggs. And this year will be the best ever because there’s a new egg in town! Actually, a dozen of them. And what’s makes them so special? They glow. Thanks to Egglo Entertainment, I’m pretty sure I will become known as the mom with the coolest Easter egg hunt.
We love doing reviews but my kids really get on board when it’s something purely fun. And when this review opportunity became available, my youngest practically begged for it. It was like Christmas when the package arrived. We received:
Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs (reg $11.99, sale $9.99. Additional discount for bulk orders)
When we first received the eggs, Jeremiah grabbed the box and eagerly opened them. He was disappointed that they weren’t already glowing. I explained to him how they worked and then he immediately set them up to “charge”. All you have to do is allow the eggs to absorb light for 30-40 minutes. You have several options – sunlight works best (only 20 minute charge time), UV black light or fluorescent (for 30 minutes) or Tungsten or incandescent light (45 minutes). Placing the eggs directly under my desk lamp for about 45 minutes resulted in brightly glowing eggs. I think it’s a fluorescent bulb but not sure. The eggs were about a foot away from the bulb. I thought to take a picture of them after we played with them for about 30 minutes. I didn’t really time them, but I think they glowed for more than an hour. We did four hunts and played around and they were still glowing.
Half of the eggs have a cross embedded in them and the others are plain so that you can decorate them any way you want.
My kids wanted to do the Easter egg hunt first. We hadn’t even read the book yet. Or opened every item in the package. By the way, it’s also fun to play a “dodgeball” game of sorts with the eggs after the hunt is complete. You can thank my teenage son for that idea. Just having all my boys playing and laughing together was a great memory for me.
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Book (reg. $12.99, sale $9.99)
This is a softcover colorful book written by Darcie Cobos, founder of Egglo eggs.
The story tells of sibling duo Hardy and Anastasia and their cousin Pascal. Each kid has their own issues – Hardy is a know-it-all, Anastasia is fearful of everything and Pascal never listens. While they are in the attic, they discover a glowing egg that transports them into a wonderful adventure. As they travel to exotic places, they search for more glowing eggs and uncover Scripture scrolls that help them. By the end of the adventure, they discover the greatest treasure of all.
Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls ($4.50)
There are 12 mini scrolls that contain Scriptures to keep the focus of Easter on Jesus. You can place the scrolls in any plastic eggs or think of other ways to use them. My son loved that they were like actual scrolls and you can unroll them to read the message. I hid the scrolls inside the eggs for the first hunt we did after reading the book.
Egglo Bible Verse Stickers ($3.29)
Twelve stickers of Scriptures that can be used to decorate the eggs or use in other ways. Another way to keep to keep the focus where it should be. My son used the stickers to decorated his coloring pages with some of them.
The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum (reg $14.99, sale $9.99)
This download is designed for ministries or groups to use the Egglo eggs as a outreach group event. Everything single detail you need to plan an event is included – even printable invitations! However, there are ideas that individual families can use too, such as snack ideas and coloring pages. I printed off a few of the coloring pages for Jeremiah to color. We also worked on the memory verse. It worked out great because right after we worked on memory verses about Jesus being the light, we went to church and the preacher preached on light and read some of the verses from the scrolls, including our own memory verse. My son immediately recognized it!
