Today is July 1st. I can’t believe it’s already July and summer is in full swing. Half of my kids have already done their summer camp but we haven’t even started our summer learning that I had planned (Florida state history) or even enrolled Jeremiah in more swimming classes yet. Yikes! Where has the time gone already?
When we think of July, immediately we think of the 4th of July which is one of the most celebrated holidays in America accompanied by BBQ’s and fireworks. But did you know there are more holidays in July?
Before we get to day-specific holidays, remember that July is National Blueberry month (although Florida’s season is now over), National Hot Dog Month (visit Mel’s Hot Dogs in Tampa, FL!!) and National Ice Cream Month (can you believe my daughter try to sell my ice cream maker in our yard sale this past weekend??!!), and Cell Phone Courtesy Month.
So, let’s get started:
– Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day
– International Chicken Wing Day
– Superman Day
– Sidewalk Egg Frying Day
– International Cherry Pit Spitting Day
– International Kissing Day
– National Strawberry Sundae Day
– Video Games Day
– National Sugar Cookie Day
– Don’t Step on a Bee Day (hmm…shouldn’t this “bee” everyday?)
– Chick-Fil-A’s Cow Appreciation Day (dress like a cow and get a free sandwich!)
– Simplicity Day (although I have decided June was my Simplicity month!)
– Embrace Your Geekness Day
– Macaroni Day
– Gummi Worm Day
– National Corn Fritters Day (and last week I just found a little drive-thru place that is known for having the best, can’t wait to try them)
– Yellow Pig Day (I admit I had no idea what this was, but it seems to do with math and the number 17)
– National Caviar Day
– National Hot Dog Day
– National Lollipop Day
– Global Hug Your Kid Day (again…should be every day ((hugs))
– Ratcatcher’s Day (c’mon, those guys deserve a day!!)
– Gorgeous Grandma Day
– Cousins Day
– National Talk in an Elevator Day (I love this!! I am one that gets a cheap little thrill of talking to people in elevators – they can’t escape!) Enjoy this funny experiment…even though they don’t talk.
(I love how the girl at 3:50 conforms even though her expression shows she is clearly confused by the behavior.)
– National Day of the Cowboy
– Walk on Stilts Day
– National Milk Chocolate Day
– Lasagna Day
– National Cheesecake Day
– Uncommon Instruments Awareness Day
And there you have it – something you can celebrate every day this month!!
