For today’s challenge, I’m going to follow one of the co-host’s Jennifer’s, lead. Since we recently share some favorite recipes already, I’m going to share recipe from my grandmother.
Some grandmothers make amazing food, homemade pies and food for days. But my grandmother cooked for just herself for many years so most of her recipes were for one person or just focused on frugality. But she still had that one recipe that she made for every holiday and brought to dinners.
Her known dish was a Blueberry Salad.
It’s one of those Jello salads with fruit in it, complete with a cream cheese topping. I think those kind of dishes were popular, maybe in the 70’s?? It is a comfort food for me and always brings back happy family memories.
And just because being sentimental puts me in a giving mood, I’ll even share her Cranberry Jello Salad recipe too.
These are even in her own handwriting, making it extra special!!
Tip: If you still have your mother and grandmothers alive, have them write out some favorite recipes in their own handwriting. They will become treasures!
