First, this is not my brain child.
I’ve always dreamed of being a food blogger. I love to try new recipes and to share them. And I love to blog. So…why not combine the two?
Unfortunately, the difference between a great food blogger and one, that well, occasionally shares recipes, usually comes down to one thing. You might think it’s a great recipe. I’m sure that helps. But honestly, how many of the recipes that you pin on your food related Pinterest boards actually get tried? Maybe ten percent of mine if I’m completely honest.
What gets those pins popular? Great photography.
Do you remember the recent Ultimate Bundle Sale that just ended? It was focused on photography and I received two books dedicated solely to food photography.
I haven’t finished them yet.
Sometimes I can get just a little impatient. I wanted something to do right now to take my pictures to another level. I don’t need to be great, just a little better each and every time. You know, to be growing?
I recently pinned a light box. The instructions were surprisingly very simple. A Houseful of Handmade shared how she made hers and her pictures are pretty amazing! She even takes a lot of her pictures with her cellphone which inspired me too. (Click on the link for the instructions on her site.)
Here’s what my box ended up looking like. It’s dark but then all the lights are shining in the box.
And here’s some pics that I took:
You can see the progression as I played around with the white balance setting. Overall, I’m extremely pleased!! I think they are getting better but I still have a ways to go. Time to go read some more.
Now, I just need to go back, recreate all of my recipes and take pictures again!!
Oh, and now I need to do some plating. And learn about white balance!
