Happy New Year everyone!! 2017 went by so quickly and now it’s already 2018!!
I just love New Year’s Day. It symbolizes a fresh start. A new beginning. A clean slate. Changes.
I have seemed to have lost my blogging mojo in the last couple of years. There’s just so many homeschool blogs that I have felt lost in the big sea of bloggers. And I’ve homeschooled for so long that it’s become second nature and I don’t feel that I have much input because most of the passion is gone. Not the passion of the purpose, just the passion of something new and exciting. I only have my ten (almost eleven) year old to teach now and unless I’m sharing new curriculum that I’ve found, I feel like I’ve already shared everything.
And I feel like being a homeschool mom is just a very, very small facet of who I am now. It used to be that homeschool consumed all of my time. But now, I can mostly assign work to my son or we read together, but it’s more independent study. And what we do, I’ve already done with all of his older siblings previously and shared it then.
I am often told that you need a niche to have a successful blog. But I’ve never fell into a niche. I guess I tried making homeschooling my niche but since I feel like there’s not much left for me to say about it, I rarely blog anymore.
But there’s so much more about me. I still love photography. I need to do so more challenges to hone my skill and document my life. I am back on Trim Healthy Mama for health purposes. I still love to cook but most of the recipes that I make now are not my own creations. However, I do plan on adjusting some old favorites to make them healthier and will share those. Did you know my latest obsession is sewing? I don’t think I’ve ever even blogged about sewing before, yet that’s what I do in all of my spare time! I love art. I started painting with watercolors. I also try handlettering but I need more more practice for that!
And in my life, we are planning yet another move to another state. I don’t know anyone else that has moved fourteen times in thirty years without being in military! We always rent first when moving to a new location but we prayed about this move and have felt God has allowed everything to fall into place so we are planning to buy right away. This is a brand new state for us. I’ll get to explore a brand new area and also have plenty of DIY projects for our new home!
Once I get moved, I plan on doing a major overhaul on my blog. I want it to reflect me more. And all of my passions. Which means it needs to be easier to navigate.
Until then, I just need to get back in the grove of writing more. I found the Buttontapper Challenge and have decided to try it for this year. Laura Roberts is hosting it and there’s even a Facebook group if you want to join the challenge.
Today’s writing challenge was “Introductions”. I think I’ve pretty much covered that. I have an About Me Page where I listed 100 random things about me. I just read through it again. It needs to be updated. I no longer live in Florida. I live in Georgia and moving to Alabama. I hope to plant a garden this spring. I sew now. A lot. I no longer buy a lot of books…I buy fabric. And I love to go to antique malls. I can’t remember the last time I turned on a country radio station. And I have attended a blogging conference.
Let’s jump start this New Year, shall we?
