I know I’ve been missing around here lately. I had to take some time off. It was unplanned. But isn’t every time your life gets turned upside down, it’s unplanned? Usually?
Over the past few months, life hasn’t exactly been easy. I hate to complain but if it wasn’t one thing, it’s another. I felt defeated. And stressed. And I desperately had to take some time off to regroup and gather my wits. I needed to focus on my marriage and my family.
And from this time off, do you know what I’ve learned? I’m tired of playing defense. I never know what’s coming at me (or my family) or when it’s going to hit. As a Christian, I am learning better ways to fight for my family spiritually through prayer. I will try to share some of that soon.
I am so glad that 2015 is over. It was probably one of the hardest years for me for a variety of reasons. I am determined that 2016 will be better. And if it’s not, it will not be for my not trying!!!
Over the past few years, I have opted to do a Word of the Year instead of resolutions. (However, I am going to do a monthly focus on 3 habits to establish.) First, let’s revisit previous years:
And now for this year.
VIGILANT – (adj.) keenly watchful to detect danger, wary, ever awake and alert, sleeplessly watchful.
This is what I must be – vigilant. This is what every mother must be. I must never let my guard down. I must always be alert. And be able to detect danger. Things that are dangerous do not always appear that way initially. I will not fall asleep on my watch.
Have you chosen one word for the new year? If so, please share. Reading everyone’s word is always encouraging.
