Day 16 of the photo challenge: a picture of someone who inspires me.
Let me introduce you to one of my grandmothers. Meet Ina.
As a child, my grandma contracted polio which left her crippled. She managed with crutches most of her life but the last several years, was in a wheelchair. She grew up, put herself through college, and became a teacher. Then she got married. And had three children, my mom being the youngest.
Then my grandfather passed away. My mom was only six years old at the time. My grandmother raised the kids all by herself. Never remarried. Never accepted any assistance. Worked from home to make ends meet. Even supported a missionary or two. She raised a garden. Next to a compost pile. Made beautiful quilts. And played a mean game of Scrabble.
And she did it all with a smile and a word of encouragement. I never heard her say a negative thing about anyone. Even if they did deserve it.
When I think life is unfair or I get discouraged, I can think of someone that had it harder than me and never complained about it.
