The Smurfs are returning!! I remember watching the smurfs with my daughters when they were very young. Of course, Smurfette was our favorite. Whenever I see anything Smurf-related now, I am filled with nostalgia. Wonderful memories of being curled up on the couch with my now-adult daughters and eating dry cereal by the handfuls. It was our thing. Papa Smurf always had good advice and the Smurfs knew how to work together. They just don’t make good cartoons any more.
But this week, April 7th to be precise, the Smurfs are returning!!! Their new movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village, is being released nationwide.
Smurfette, along with Brainy, Hefty and Clumsy set out to find the Lost Village. And guess what?? They find girl smurfs!!!(That’s not a spoiler, did you watch the trailer?) The only way this movie could be any better would be if it had been released when my girls were still little.
Need to brush up on your Smurf knowledge? Check out the website, http://www.smurfsmovie.com/. You can meet the main characters AND….take a smurf quiz, print out some coloring pages, learn how to draw a smurf, play online games, and even get some smurfy recipes!! How cool is that??
And even better, you can make watching this movie a great communication tool with your children. Just download this discussion guide. There are five different themes to explore: The Source of Our Identity, A Servant’s Heart, Courage to Act, Our Past Doesn’t Define Us, and Loved into Being. I just love this discussion guide. It’s cute, colorful and concise. There’s a little Bible verse, a short passage to read and only three questions to encourage discussion. Short and sweet.
I encourage you to take your whole family to enjoy this movie!!
