We are in full swing of school and it’s finally starting to feel a little like fall. I love the routine of it all. Even though it is busy, it’s a more organized busy.
We have been using more of the online school systems. I’m surprised at how well my oldest son as adapted to it since he is usually the one that balks at doing anything on the computer. Now, give him an Xbox and you will never hear him complain! We’ve also been adding a lot of things to our regular schedule for reviews that I do. It’s the last big push before holiday breaks next month. Well….actually November. I guess next week, I can technically say “next month”. I’ve gotten some really great stuff in the mail this week that I can’t wait to share!!
We went to our church’s first football game of the season on Tuesday. It was strange not having a player on the field. I really miss being a team mom. I’m not sure I can ever get Jared to playing but hopefully Jeremiah will when he is old enough. NOT that I want to rush time!! I’d rather him stay little for awhile longer.
Speaking of staying little…
Jeremiah has finally had a little growth spurt. It’s 8 1/2 and has been wearing size 6 for forever. He is the shortest of his friends and he is actually the oldest of them. Poor kid. He wants to grow so bad. I tell him not to worry because Connor was always short too and now he is the tallest one in our family. And just in time, I finally found a children’s consignment sale in the next city.
When I lived in North Carolina, churches would always host annual children’s consignment sales. It was a blast and you could find some really good deals. This is great since where I live barely even has any places to buy children’s clothes. It’s not unusual to go to church and a few of the kids, especially boys, are seen wearing the exact same shirt. A girl’s nightmare, right? LOL. Anyway, I went to my first local sale and scored! Mostly play clothes and mostly shirts, but we are both happy. He desperately needed some new stuff that fit. He, of course, picked out all of the Angry Bird t-shirts, zombie and alien shirts! This particular one even has a hoodie with an alien face.
On the homestead…we lost 3 more chickens. That now means of the six we purchased almost a month ago, the only ones left are the two barred rocks. Both of the Blue laced Wyandottes and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes are all gone. I’m heartbroken. Wyandottes is the breed I really wanted to maybe end up breeding. Oh well. I have three Golden Laced Wyandottes in the brooding box now. I hope they all make it. They are finally getting to where they will all eat out of my hand and not put much so much fuss when I handle them. Our original flock is now allowed to free range for short periods of time while someone is outside.
I am trying to get back on my Trim Healthy Mama diet. My daughter is doing a 1oo% challenge and has lost 4 or 5 pounds this past week. And looks fantastic. I think that means she’s close to 40 lbs total? Anyway, we purchased the new cookbook and it looks AMAZING!! I’ve loved every recipe we have tried so far. I just need to be more consistent. Isn’t that always my problem? I got aggravated that every time I wanted to try a recipe, I was missing one item so I broke down and placed a huge order with THM. It’s been shipped but I’m still waiting….
I also finally got some little triangle screwdrivers so my husband can take apart my grain mill and try to clean it out. We accidentally tried to make our almond flour more fine but it was really coursely crushed almonds that we put in there. My mill tried to make almond butter. A BIG no-no. I’m hoping hubby can fix it. I also got in my order for wheat berries and I plan to sprout some to make flour and I can eat sprouted bread on THM!
My son in law graduated from his military training and is now finally home for a little while!! I know my daughter is thrilled. I can’t wait to see them next week as they drive by here on their way to their new home station. It will actually be about an hour closer to me and no tolls!!
